Product photos

Product photos are a mandatory attribute for the buyer to select a product. From the photograph, the buyer must clearly understand what he is buying and what is included in the delivery of the product that is being sold. If you have a product in different colors, and in fact there is a photo in only one color, you need to take photos for each color of the product and prepare separate product offers.

General requirements and recommendations for photographs:

• minimum 1 photo, maximum 15;

• image must be clear, sharp, without blur or graininess;

• product photo must be directly related to the product name, characteristics and description;

• photo should not contain an assortment of goods;

• photos with shadows/glows/reflections, these effects should not break off (for example, a backlit TV, the backlight should be fully visible in the photo);

• for narrow and long goods in the photo, use the correct angles (photos of all planes);

• schemes and infographics are allowed in photos (it cannot be the first photo);

• Additional photos may show accessories for the product, but these photos with accessories should not mislead buyers - the buyer must clearly understand what is included in the delivery of the product that is being sold.

• The QR code on product photos and packaging must be illegible or sketched.

Technical requirements for the uploaded photo

allowed image sizes from 200 px (minimum) to 3000 px (maximum) in width or height. The recommended size of uploaded images is from 300x300 px to 600x600 px;

How to get an image of the required size?

There are many online image editing tools. Here are some of them: PicMonkey, Pixlr, FotoFlexer.

You can also use offline editors like Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. In Photoshop, you can optimize multiple images at once using the File → Save for Web command.

file format - JPEG (.jpeg / .jpg), GIF (.gif) and PNG (.png);

Here are some tips to keep in mind when choosing a file type:

In most cases, JPEG is the optimal image format for an online store.

Never use GIF for large images, as this will greatly increase the file size.

When working with PNG format, be careful: the size of a full-color PNG-24 image is three times larger than PNG-8.

To compress PNG files, the Tinypng service can be useful. For other formats, you can use the Image Optimizer.

Product Image

• the product in the title photo must be without packaging and must not be cut off;

• product in the photo must have the correct shape, not stretched or compressed on one side, not flattened;

• product in the image must be in the foreground. Its view should not be blocked or obscured by other objects (for example, a toaster should not stand somewhere far away, in the middle of the kitchen. Correctly place it on a flat kitchen surface and take a close-up photograph, with a minimum number of associative kitchen items);

• product in the photo can be located in different angles. One of the main criteria is a good image and color reproduction so that the product itself and its main qualities are clearly visible in the photo;

• the product can be photographed from any angle, as long as its front view is clearly visible;

• It is unacceptable to use collages as a title photo;

• images after the title should be placed in the natural order as if the product rotates around its axis (if it is an objective photo). Photos that demonstrate life scenarios for using the product (lifestyle) should be placed at the very end in order.

Photos background

• recommended white (light, plain) or transparent background. A plain background of a pastel shade is allowed;

• for clothing, a background is acceptable indoors or outdoors, provided that cars with license plates, billboards, etc. are not included in the frame;

• for the categories of greenhouses, garage doors, outdoor appliances, outdoor photos are allowed (ie for goods that are difficult to photograph objectively);

• The product in the photo can take up any amount of space, but we recommend that the background should take up no more than 20% of the area of the photo.

Forbidden in photos

• marketing inscriptions or icons, for example: hit, top seller, promotion, free shipping, etc.;

• web links, graphics and other watermarks that may direct the visitor to other resources;

• images of people who smoke, use alcohol or drugs;

• use the image of coins, banknotes, etc., if they are not directly the product offer itself;

• images of explicit sexual positions, bare nipples, genitals;

Use of logos, watermarks, and texts

To protect your content, photos of products that contain the manufacturer's logo/name (must match the manufacturer's name on the product) or the name/logo of your Monstroplace store are allowed. At the same time, such a watermark should not focus the attention of the buyer and interfere with viewing the product in the photo.

Text and pictures in the photo are allowed provided that it relates directly to the product, indicates the dimensions of the product, the article, reveals its competitive functionality or characteristics of the product.

We strongly recommend that the first product photo be on a white or transparent background and without inscriptions or watermarks.

Products with color assortment

Goods in furniture categories are allowed if the first photo shows a product model, and the next photo shows a palette of colors (shades) in which the seller can make this product.

We recommend that you look at the photos of similar categories of products that are already published on the Monstroplace site, this will allow you to compare your content with other sellers and understand what photos you need to prepare. Also, we recommend using 3-6 photos from different angles to present the product, so that the buyer can view the product “as a whole”.

Items whose photos do not meet our requirements will not be published on the Monstroplace website. If you are not sure if your product photos are suitable, you can additionally consult with the Monstroplace administration.

Product description

Description of the product is a text block from which the buyer can get more complete information about the proposed product. The information in the description must match the name, photo and specified characteristics of the product. In the description, it is recommended to indicate the features of the product, useful functions, compatibility, equipment and other parameters that do not fall into the block with characteristics. The most complete information about the goods will help the client to make the right choice, reduce the number of returns and attract more customers.

What is not allowed in the description

The description should contain information directly about the product or brand. Compose the text without grammatical, spelling and stylistic errors.

In the description it is forbidden to indicate:

• links to third-party resources;

• prices and information about other products;

• information about additional services;

• images or videos;

• information about delivery and payment methods;

• contact details and information about the store;

• information not related to this product or manufacturer.

It is allowed to place goods on the site without a description, if all the main characteristics are indicated and they provide complete information about the product.
